What is tsar samuel blinded soldiers?

Tsar Samuel, also known as Samuel of Bulgaria, was a Bulgarian emperor who ruled from 997 to 1014. During his reign, he engaged in a series of wars with the Byzantine Empire, which eventually resulted in his defeat and the fall of the Bulgarian Empire.

One notable incident during this conflict was the blinding of Byzantine soldiers by Tsar Samuel's army. According to historical accounts, the Bulgarian soldiers captured several hundred Byzantine soldiers and then blinded them by carving out their eyes or pouring hot irons over them.

This act of cruelty was meant to weaken the Byzantine army and intimidate other potential enemies. However, it ultimately had the opposite effect, as it outraged many people throughout the region and resulted in a greater resolve to resist Bulgarian aggression.

Despite this and other brutal tactics employed by Tsar Samuel, he is still remembered by some Bulgarians as a national hero who fought for the country's independence and dignity.
